Nidderdale and the local area
Bewerley is such a pretty village, with its own Green, hugged by a row of cherry trees which are a true delight in spring and still the home to an old fashioned red phone box.
Staying at Bewerley Hall Cottage, you’ve got the best of both worlds; you can enjoy the peace and quiet of village life, but then have all the great local amenities of nearby Pateley Bridge, just a five minute walk away – perfect! The walks from our cottage door are fantastic, you’ll be spoilt for choice and they also include a section of the Nidderdale Way for you to experience also. It’s no surprise that Nidderdale is becoming a real mecca for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. A wide range of leisure activities are also catered for including water-sports, fishing, pot-holing and rock climbing.
Fancy something a little different whilst visiting the area? Why not check out what our friends are up to at How Stean Gorge where you can experience 'The Big 5' – Via Ferrata, Abseil, Gorge Scrambling, Caving and Canoeing or for the ultimate outdoor adventure why not visit Log Heights near Harrogate – you could be jumping into the sky to catch a trapeze in the tree tops one minute, problem solving closer to the ground the next or enjoying the grounds of Ripley Castle on a Segway! Or for a more leisurely activity then why not go trekking with a Llama?
If you haven't heard, we love cycling in Yorkshire and were delighted that the county hosted the 'Grand Depart' of the 2014 Tour de France and local lad Dave Mann at Nidderdale Cycles just outside Pateley Bridge is there to help you get out on two wheels by offering cycle hire and suggested routes you can enjoy whilst staying in Nidderdale.
Pateley Bridge is also fast becoming a bit of a ‘foodie paradise’ too! You’ll find award winning pork pies at Kendall’s Butchers, their own farm reared beef at Weatherheads butchers, fresh deli produce at Park View Stores, homemade cakes and freshly baked bread at the Old Bake House, delicious Italian dishes from Olleys and even the oldest sweet shop in England graces our High Street. You’ll be able to enjoy great Yorkshire food and beer at The Royal Oak and The Crown in Pateley Bridge, The Birch Tree at Wilsill, The Crown at Middlesmoor and Lofthouse and The Sportsman’s Arms at Wath.
